Day 12 - September 13, 2012

Long before Soarin' flew into The Land pavilion, the location was used to educate guests about healthy eating. Prior to Soarin' in the location was a show called Food Rocks, but starting on October 1, 1982 the location was home to Kitchen Kabaret, a show hosted by Bonnie Appetite.

Bonnie is joined by several different audio-animatronics that would eventually play an important role in paving the road for future audio-animatronics. For instance, Eggz, who participated in a comedy sketch with Hamm and would point out that the "yokes on you" has a very strong resemblance to one of the most advanced audio-animatronics in the world, Mr. Potato Head!

At the same time, however, the audio-animatronics in the show had a great advantage: since they were all based off of different food products (like our friend Mustard found in the picture below) the movements didn't have to be 100% realistic since up to this point guests hadn't seen audio-animatronics that focused on non-living things.

While the show was extremely popular, it was decided to update it with music that had more of a rock feel to it by creating Food Rocks which would in turn be replaced by Soarin' in 2005. The real star of the show, in my opinion, however was one of the final songs in the show: Veggie Veggie, Fruit Fruit which can be heard below. Enjoy!
