Day 6 - September 7, 2012

Back in the early 90s Disney began to do some brainstorming on how to attract more guests to the park with different interests. With the park being a showcase of innovation and technology they began to realize that not all new ideas had to deal with new ideas in electronics. The solution to bringing in new people?

The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival!

The Flower and Garden Festival began in 1993 with the idea of showcasing innovative ways for gardening lovers to grow plants, food, and more. The real star of the festival? Several topiaries were scattered throughout the park for guests to enjoy. In addition to that gardening seminars were set up to teach guests new and creative techniques on growing their plants.

Over the past twenty years the Festival has evolved and grown to enormous lengths. In fact, now several seminars by famous gardeners occur on an almost hourly basis in the old Wonders of Life pavilion, merchandise from shirts to flower pots are sold, and the number of topiaries have grown to almost 100 each year with new ideas coming each year!

While several changes for the better have occurred to the Flower and Garden Festival over the past twenty years, the main center for the festival has had changes for the worse. That's right, tomorrow we are traveling over to the Wonders of Life pavilion...
