Epcot opened October 1, 1982, 11 years to the day after the Magic Kingdom.
The park is broken up into two very distinct areas, Future
World and World Showcase.
Future World allows guests to explore the newest technology
in a fun and exciting new way, while World Showcase allows
guests to get a taste of different cultures from around the
world.
The current attractions in Epcot are Spaceship Earth, The
Seas with Nemo and Friends, Turtle Talk with Crush, Soarin',
Living with the Land, Circle of Life, Journey into
Imagination with Figment, Captain EO, Innoventions, Ellen's
Energy Adventure, Mission:SPACE, Test Track, Kim Possible,
Gran Fiesta Tour starring the Three Caballeros, Maelstrom,
Reflections of China, The American Adventure, Impressions de
France, and O, Canada!
Fun Facts: Epcot has gone through several
name changes throughout the years. It originally opened as
EPCOT Center and eventually changed into EPCOT, until it
reached today's name, Epcot (only the "E" being
capitalized).
EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of
Tomorrow. However, people have joked about it standing for
Every Person Comes Out Tired, Every Paycheck Comes on
Thursday, Every Podcast Can't Outdo The W.E.D.nesday Show!
(Ignore the "W" and "S"), and more!
Touring Tips: Make sure you grab a Fastpass
for Soarin' as soon as possible! It is the most popular
attraction in Walt Disney World and the Fastpasses run out
quickly!
