Frontierland opened with the Magic Kingdom in 1971 with Davy
Crockett's Explorer Canoes, Country Bear Jamboree,
Frontierland Shootin' Arcade.
While Disneyland's Frontierland was about a third of the
park on opening day, Walt Disney World's was drastically
smaller.
Walt Disney World's Frontierland holds the honor of housing
the first attraction that opened in Walt Disney World before
Disneyland. That attraction was the Country Bear Jamboree.
The current attractions in Frontierland are The Country Bear
Jamboree, Tom Sawyer's Island, the Frontierland Shootin'
Arcade, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. In
addition to these, Frontierland is the home to one of the
stops on the Walt Disney World Railroad.
Fun Fact: The little river you cross over
while coming from Liberty Square is called the Little
Mississippi. This is to symbolize the fact that the
Mississippi separates the Eastern United States, which was
mainly colonial from the Western United States, where the
American Frontier was.
