Future World East has been the home of some of the most
popular attractions in Epcot's history including World of
Motion, Cranium Command, and Horizons.
Future World East opened with the park with Universe of
Energy and World of Motion. On the one year anniversary of
Epcot, Horizons opened and in 1989 the Wonders of Life
pavilion became the final pavilion added to this portion of
Future World.
As time went on, however, Future World East began to have
some changes. In 1996, World of Motion closed down to make
way for a new attraction dealing with cars, Test Track.
During the same year Universe of Energy had a change in
theming as Ellen's Energy Adventure, starring Ellen
DeGeneres, Alex Trebek, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Jamie
Lee Curtis, would take it's place.
Shortly after, the beloved Horizons would close in 1999 to
eventually make way for Mission: SPACE which opened up in
the same location in 2003. In 2007, Future World East saw
the final change when the Wonders of Life pavilion was
completely shut down.
The current attractions in Future World East are Test Track,
Mission: SPACE, and Ellen's Energy Adventure. The Wonders of
Life pavilion is still used for special events, such as the
Flower and Garden Festival or the Food and Wine Festival.
Fun Facts: Future World East holds a lot of
records for having one of the fastest attractions in Walt
Disney World (Test Track), one of the longest (Ellen's
Energy Adventure), and one that has probably upset more
stomachs (Mission: SPACE).
Touring Tips: If you don't mind being split
up from your party, use the single rider line over at Test
Track! The wait is significantly shorter than the stand by
line!
