Rafiki's Planet Watch, the only land named after a Disney
character that isn't Mickey or Minnie, opened with Disney's
Animal Kingdom on April 22, 1998.
This portion of the park gives guests the chance to interact
with animals and nature on a more personal level. Here
guests are given the chance to learn more about how they can
make a difference when they return back home. While the rest
of the park is an educational experience, this is the only
section that doesn't try to hide the fact that you are
actually learning something.
The main attractions here aren't rides or shows, but
experiences. Guests have the chance to observe actual
scientists working with animals while answering the guests
questions, they can pet different animals at the Affection
Section, and they can play different games at the
Conservation Station.
While not the most popular section of Disney's Animal
Kingdom, Rafiki's Planet Watch is worth the train ride over.
There are several fun activities that you can do here that
can keep you busy from five minutes to five hours, so go
check it out!
Fun Facts: If you've ever been to
Tomorrowland, you may have met PUSH, the talking trash can.
While here in Rafiki's Planet Watch you can sometimes meet
his distant cousin Pipa, the talking recycling trash can!
Touring Tips: Rafiki's Planet Watch is home
to some of the most unique character meet and greets in all
of Walt Disney World. At times you can meet Pocahontas,
Meeko, and even Jiminy Cricket!
