Fun Find Friday
May 6, 2011
Location: The American Adventure,
Epcot
There's something about The American Adventure that
I just love. I don't know if it's the way Disney makes learning
about our history fun, the moving Golden Dreams song, or the fact
that there are a lot of Fun Finds in this somewhat empty pavilion.
Today's Fun Find is located in the main lobby of the
pavilion. Just after you enter you'll find several quotes from
famous Americans, and paintings depicting great moments in America's
history, upon the walls. If you head to the far back left corner in
this area you will come across the following painting (entitled "A
Lesson For the Future"):

At first glance there doesn't seem to be anything
truly hidden in this painting. You may stop and take a look at it
and then move onto the next painting while waiting for the show to
start. However, after looking more closely you may begin to notice
something amazing. The woman in the painting has these children
hanging on her every word. Is she a great teacher or is she just
reading an amazing book that Disney may later turn into a movie?
Well, it could be number one, but it is also most definitely number
two!

While it is difficult to see in the picture above,
and in person, you can see after close observation that the title of
the book is none other than "Swiss Family Robinson!" As with most
Fun Finds, this isn't the only painting in the area that has a
detail with a lot more meaning than most visitors will notice.
However, those other Fun Finds will have to wait for another time.
