It's time for a Where in the World? Where in Walt
Disney World can you find the picture above?
I actually posted this picture as a Where in the
World back in March or April and everyone instantly said in front of
the Main Street Train Station. Unfortunately, that is not correct.
This Mickey can be found in front of the Contemporary, but why is he
here exactly?
 |
To answer that question we have to look at it from a
different angle. The picture to the left was taken from the
monorail while parked at the Grand Canyon concourse.
While looking at it you would think what most people would
think: it's a great piece of decoration! However, there's
more to the story (get ready for my weekly ramble).
The Contemporary and Tomorrowland are connected in several
ways. In fact, when the Magic Kingdom was first being
designed there were plans to have an entrance into the park
that connected the futuristic resort into Tomorrowland. In
addition to that, you can only see the Contemporary (with a
few exceptions) from Tomorrowland while in the Magic Kingdom
(the Town Square Theater is actually the only building on
Main Street, USA built to scale so you can't see the Resort
from this area of the park).
So naturally, both the Contemporary and Tomorrowland deal
with a futuristic time. Speaking of time, let's take a look
at the picture to the left again to see that this Mickey isn't
a decoration, but |
in fact, an extremely large Mickey Mouse watch! The
Mickey is the face of the clock, while the landscape above and below
it is the band of the watch.
Just a subtle reminder that time plays an important
role in this amazing Resort!
