Fun Find Friday
January 11, 2013
In honor of our two year anniversary it only makes
sense to talk about two different fun finds and how the two of them
connect together. Let's start off by traveling to an area where
we've spent a lot of time over the past two years: Dinoland, USA.
While inside the restaurant Restaurantosaurus the
storyline which focuses around the dig is more evident than ever,
and it's here that we truly get to know the characters Disney has
created to help tell the story. One section of the restaurant, The
Hip Joint, allows guests to see how these budding paleontologist
students relax after a long day of digging dinosaur bones. Upon the
wall you can even find a game where they release stress:

The rules of the game are simple. You must hit the
Big Bang to begin scoring. Scoring ends in the tenth round, and you
must hit the Quarternary to win. While the game showcases how these
fictional characters are relaxing, it's even more important to note
their names, Dr. McGee, Sam, Jenny, and Mark. In addition to these
characters others can be found within the room and help tell the
story of this screwball crew of scientists.

This isn't the only part of the park that has an
underlying storyline that focuses around a group of students and
their relationships together. As time goes on we'll focus more on
the characters in Dinoland, USA, but today I'd like to introduce you
to a different, and much more serious, group of scientists that are
hard at work over in Africa, more specifically, the Pangani Forest
Exploration Trail.

While the storyline in Dinoland, USA focuses on the
wacky (which makes sense since the subjects they are studying are
dinosaurs so they can't really do any harm to their livelihood) the
ones over at Pangani Forest are much more serious, but through
careful observation throughout the trail, and a few sections in
Africa, we will discover that despite the serious storyline, the
relationships between our characters seems very real.

Our head honcho over in Africa is Dr. K. Kulunda.
And as you can see from the crate above our storyline does begin in
the fictitious Harambe. As time goes on we will take a much closer
look at Dr. Kulunda and her students, along with the wacky crew over
in Dinoland, USA. These two storylines can actually cover a years
worth of Fun Finds just by themselves, but we will obviously be
covering other sections of Walt Disney World in the meantime as
well.
Thank you for everyone who has been reading for the
past two years. I said it last year, and I'll say it again, we
haven't even begun to scratch the surface so be prepared and we'll
see you once again next Friday!
