Fun Find Friday

April 8, 2016

Location: Fantasyland, Magic Kingdom

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour. The tour provded the history and fun facts that deal with the Walt Disney World Railroad. One fun fact that was shared with us, however, dealt with one of the newest additions to Magic Kingdom: Storybook Circus.

When the construction for New Fantasyland and Storybook Circus was being done, John Lasseter was given a tour of the area being built. Being a train enthusiast himself, he expressed his concerns to the Imagineers that there wasn't a spot in the Magic Kingdom where guests could get a decent shot of the train engine and cars and suggested that they build one at the new Fantasyland station.

The Imagineers listened to his ideas and decided that they would insert the area in front of the station located at Storybook Circus. Due to the idea coming from John Lasseter, the lookout area has become known as Lasseter Point by Cast Members who work on the Walt Disney World Railroad!
