Sunday Brunchies and Crunchies: S'more
S'mores
28 August 2011
It is my firm belief that Walt Disney World has a
strange new love affair with the S'more, as it seems to be appearing
in different forms all over the resort. Harking back to the
very
first Sunday Brunchies and Crunchies edition of this blog, the
S'more returns, this time at the Sunshine Seasons food court in the
Land Pavilion at Epcot. During a recent visit to the Land with my
roommate John, his visiting mother and sister, and our friend
Ashley, we found the bakery shop at Sunshine Seasons was offering a
brand new dessert.

We stopped by the food court for a quick snack
before heading to Soarin' (touring tip: get in line for this
attraction minutes before the park closes'it's probably the shortest
stand-by line you'll ever see all day, and you get to be in the park
after closing!). As we approached the bakery shop's display case, we
noticed something different in the case. A little chocolate
marshmallow cake sat in a sea of other pudgy little marshmallow
chocolate cakes, calling our names and attention, teasing us with
the sweet and richness the treat would surely bring us. We asked the
cast member what it was and she grinned wide and proudly stated that
Sunshine Seasons was now offering the S'mores brownie. If the
picture below is not enough to tempt you, the price certainly will.
For what you were getting, the price was quite a sweet deal: $2.55
(with tax!) for this brand new dessert. For Disney prices, that's
quite inexpensive for what we were getting! (Price as of mid-August)
I must say, the S'mores brownie was AMAZING. At
first, I was a little put off by the imbalance of chocolate to other
s'mores ingredients at first glance, but then again, the dessert is
a brownie with a S'mores theme, so I couldn't complain. The brownie
was the expected rich and delicious dense chocolaty brownie
goodness, but the coolest part was the graham cracker bottom. If you
are a fan of graham cracker crusts on cheesecake, you will most
definitely love the graham cracker crust on the S'mores brownie.
Much thicker than on a cheesecake, this graham cracker crust was
full of just the right balance of crunch and chewiness to serve as a
base for the dessert and provide the appropriate amount of flavor to
bring the taste and summertime campfire memories that come with
S'mores. The marshmallows were a nice sweet addition to help round
out the flavor and any more would've been overkill. The finishing
chocolate and caramel drizzle was a terrific garnish for decoration
and that little bit of extra flavors to complete the dessert. Our
party agreed that the new dessert was delicious, though John and
Ashley decided they probably could've shared one rather than each of
us getting our own. In my opinion, the portion size was perfect and
I gladly devoured the entire dessert. Forget sharing, this wasn't
circle story time around the camp fire; this was dessert in Disney
World!
