John Clayton

There is just something that catches my eye when
it comes to Disney Villains. The characters and their back stories
are just fantastic so today I will be writing about Clayton, the
villain from the 1999 Walt Disney animated film, 'Tarzan.' He can
also be seen in the television show, 'The Legend of Tarzan.' In
video games he can be found in the Kingdom Hearts series, Tarzan,
and Tarzan Untamed. In other merchandise he can be found in books,
toys, games, Disney art, clothing, and pins.
He is from England and his friends consist of Lady
Watham, the Heartless, other hunters, and the rest of the Disney
villains. His enemies include Jane, Tarzan, Terk, Tantor, Kala,
Professor Archimedes, Kerchak, and most of the animals in the
jungle.
Clayton is extremely muscular and tall. He wears a
yellow long sleeve safari shirt with the sleeves rolled to his
elbows, tan pants, brown spats, a red ascot, brown boots, a red
shoulder harness, and his trusty shotgun. He is very greedy,
hostile, and very arrogant.
He was animated by John Pomeroy, Randy Haycock,
and Richard Hoppe. He was also voiced by Brian Blessed.
*FUN FACT* Disney animators used three vile
villains (Governor Ratcliffe, Cruella De Vil, and Percival C.
McLeach) to come up with Clayton.
Clayton can be found in Disney theme parks around
the world in various references. The biggest being in Tarzan's
Treehouse in Disneyland. The story of the attraction is based on
Sabor, but while trashing the camp I often think of Clayton and the
look on his face when he is upset in the film. He can also be seen
in the Tarzan musical, and I also remember seeing him in a Disney on
Ice show when Tarzan was first released. I would love to see a
Tarzan jungle themed type of dark ride. The film is very underrated
in my opinion.
