Who's Who? Wednesday

June 10, 2015

Groot is the extremely large Flora Colossus (tree-like creature) from the 2014 Marvel film 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' He can also be found in the TV shows 'Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.,' 'The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes,' 'Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers,' 'Ultimate Spider-Man,' 'Avengers Assemble,' and the upcoming Disney XD 'Guardians of the Galaxy' cartoon. In video games he can be found in Marvel: Avengers Alliance, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon, the Disney INFINITY games, Marvel Puzzle Quest, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, and Marvel Heroes. In other merchandise he can be found in toys, books, clothing, pins, and Disney/Marvel art.

He is from the planet of Talhunia or Planet X. He travels the galaxy with his friends Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Star-Lord, and Rocket Raccoon. He can also count on other Marvel heroes such as the Avengers, Spider-Man, Nova, and the rest of the good Marvel characters. His enemies include Ronan the Accuser, Thanos, Galactus, Korvac, the Chitauri, and the rest of the evil Marvel characters.

Groot is extremely large, he can shape shift and uses his tree body to create weapons and shields. He is extremely quiet and usually only says 'I am Groot' in that order. He also has the ability to regrow his body if he gets his arm, legs or rest of his body blown up or cut off. He has a temper at times, but can also be very caring, and extremely loyal especially to Rocket Raccoon.

He was created by Jack Kirby, Dick Ayers, and Stan Lee. He was also voiced by a few people over the years such as Kevin Michael Richardson, Vin Diesel, Troy Baker, and Michael Clarke Duncan until he passed away in 2012.

Groot can not be found in Disney parks around the world. Same thing as the rest of the Marvel characters, hopefully Disney will continue to integrate the characters into the parks due to the popularity of all Marvel movies, and comic books.
