Yen Sid

Yen Sid is a very mysterious
and extremely powerful sorcerer. He can be seen
in 'Fantasia,' 'Mickey's Magical Christmas:
Snowed in at the House of Mouse,' 'Fantasia
2000,' and his famous sorcerer hat makes a cameo
in Walt Disney's 2010 film 'The Sorcerer's
Apprentice' after the credits. He can also be
seen in the television show 'House of Mouse' and
I also remember seeing in a few different Disney
specials when I was a kid. He can be found in
the 'Kingdom Hearts' series, and the wildly
popular 2010 Disney game 'Epic Mickey.' He can
also be found in merchandise such as his hat,
books and pins.
He lives in a very large and
strange tower near Twilight Town according to
the Kingdom Hearts games. He has many allies at
his disposal including Mickey Mouse and all the
forces of good. His enemies included all the
Disney villains and other dark forces that want
destroy everyone and everything. He uses magic
to control his magic brooms and Mickey finds out
the hard way how hard it is to control them.

*FUN FACT* A lot of people
know this already, but I really enjoy this
little fun find: Yen Sid is Disney spelled
backwards. This is the reason I love Disney so
much. They put so many easter eggs in everything
and there attention to detail is unbelievable.
Yen Sid is a very tall,
skinny, and elderly man. He wears a blue robe, a
blue pointy sorcerer's hat with moons and stars
on it, and has a very long gray beard. You can
see a very large replica of this hat at
Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. Yen Sid
is very wise, and is extremely strict and stern.

He was created by the Disney
Legend Fred Moore, and after Fred's untimely
passing was animated by Vladimir Tytla, and
voiced by Corey Burton. A lot of people believe
that Balthazar Blake in The Sorcerer's
Apprentice is Yen Sid in live action form. Yen
Sid was definitely the inspiration for
Balthazar.
You can only spot Yen Sid
references in a few places in a Disney theme
park, with most of the references having to do
with his famous sorcerer's hat. His statue can
be seen at Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf, a
large replica hat can be found at Hollywood
Studios, his hat can also be found at Disneyland
Paris as part of the Art of Disney Animation
building, and his hat can also be seen in
Mickey's Philharmagic at Walt Disney World. I
would love to see Yen Sid be included during a
scene for World of Color at Disneyland in the
future. I think it would really add to an
already amazing night time show.
