Fun Find Friday

June 19, 2015

Location: Wonders of Life, EPCOT Center (Retired)

Last night I had the chance to watch Disney and Pixar's newest film, Inside Out. The film, which takes place inside the brain of an 11 year old girl reminded me in concept of my favorite Epcot attraction of all time, Cranium Command.

Cranium Command

Cranium Command had guests literally go inside the brain of a 12 year old boy. However, before the actual show, guests were treated to one of the most amazing preshows Disney has ever put out. The preshow focuses around General Knowledge who assigns recruits to work inside of different heads. It's at the start of the preshow where our Fun Find Friday comes into play this week.

The attraction, which was released in 1989, was a test run of sorts for Disney. While searching for a team of directors for the 1991 Academy Award Nominated film, Beauty and the Beast, they gave two rather new animators, Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, a chance at directing the Cranium Command preshow.

When the new recruits first enter the room where all of the heads are located, the first two heads we see are rather unique. They belong to none other than Gary Trousdale (on the right) and Kirk Wise (on the left)!

The two would go on to direct Hunchback of Notre Dame and Atlantis: The Lost Empire together as well!
