Fun Find Friday

May 27, 2016

Location: Streets of America, Disney's Hollywood Studios (Retired)

It's been almost two months since the Streets of America disappeared, but it's always a great idea taking a look back at a detail that Imagineers have left behind for us to find. The detail could be found on the corner of New York and San Francisco Streets.

Streets of America

On the street corner was a staircase which went to a "subway station." Naturally, being in the center of of a theme park, this wasn't an actual subway station, but more importantly, in New York City, the subway station doesnt exist either! So why is it here?

Well, if you take a look at the sign advertising the station you can find a lot of typical items you would find on any other subway station in New York City. While the street signs are places you can find in the city that never sleeps, it's the subway lines that make this fun find worth looking at.

While their actually is a line D in New York City, there is no line W. So why is this here? Simple, the lines W and D are a nod to the man who started it all: Walt Disney!
